Biology Resource Center

Workshops

The Biology Resource Center hosts a number of workshop and review sessions throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. Spring 2017 schedules can be found here: BIOLOGY1230 & BIOLOGY1240 (click to view the BRC review schedule). Below are some of our workshops and reviews for our Biology 1230 and 1240 students:

HOW TO STUDY BIOLOGY:

The BRC hosts "How to Study Biology" at the beginning of each semester. This workshop is structured to equip Biology students with the essential information that they need to be successful in all of their courses while at Xavier. This is an interactive workshop led by Professional and Peer tutors. Students learn how to manage their time, balance their schedules, take better notes in class, and how to utilize all of the FREE resources available to them.

MODULE REVIEW SESSIONS:

The BRC hosts module reviews throughout the semester for Biology 1230 and 1240 lectures. These reviews are structured to encourage student participation and active learning. Each review is aligned to cover the material that students are currently learning in their lecture courses. The reviews are led by the BRC tutor staff.

SNACK AND STUDY:

Midterm Review Session! The BRC energizes review sessions with snacks during midterms. These reviews assist students in powering through midterms by providing students with healthy snacks and drinks while they study for their exams.

BIOLOGY AFTER DARK:

Biology After Dark is the BRC's late night review session hosted once a semester; for Biology 1230 in the Fall and Biology 1240 in the Spring.

Additional information for times and locations of review sessions can be found posted inside the BRC. Visit the center for more information!
