Nuggets will play Cumberlands at 4:30 p.m. CDT on Thursday, March 18 in the opening round
of the NAIA Division I National Championship at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn.
The Nuggets qualified for the tournament for the 14th time in 16 seasons.

The Record:
28 wins, 5 losses in 2009-10 (18-0 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference). Xavier's current 21-game winning streak
is the second longest in program history, topped only by 22 consecutive victories in 1997-98. The Gold Nuggets won
the GCAC regular-season championship for the first time since 2004-05 and their 14th bid in
16 seasons to the NAIA Division I National Championship. They became the second GCAC women's
team to finish 18-0 in conference — the first to do it was Xavier in 1997-98.
Xavier's five losses were by an average of 2.6 points.
Most Recently:
Xavier used a late 13-2 burst to rally past LSU-Shreveport 56-51 at The Barn
in the championship game of the GCAC Tournament.

Brittany Powell made the team for the second straight year and is the 2009-10
Player of the Year. Joining her on the 15-player all-conference team
is teammate Jasmine Grant. Bo Browder was chosen Coach of the Year.

Strength at Home:
Xavier has a 12-game winning streak at The Barn and 92
wins in its last 98 games at The Barn, which opened in 1937.
In conference games at The Barn the Nuggets have won 12 straight, 24 of their last 25 and 57 of their past 59.
Still Rolling:
Since an 80-73 non-conference loss at Delta State
on January 3, 2003, the Gold Nuggets are 174-47 (.787).
2008-09 Highlights:
• Junior forward Brittany Powell received honorable mention on the
NAIA Division I All-America team.
• Made the NAIA Division I preseason top 25 (No. 19) for
the first time since 2004-05.
• Defeated three automatic qualifiers for the NAIA Division I National Championship —
Berry, LSU-Shreveport and Loyola — and also beat Division II tournament entrant Florida Memorial in a November exhibition.
• Reached 20 victories for a school-record-tying eighth consecutive
season and the 16th time in 17 seasons.
• Sophomore forward/center Johnna Williams blocked 67 shots and broke
the school season record of 58 set by Gwendolyn Brule in 1981-82.
• Freshman guard Jasmine Grant was 4-for-4 from 3-point
range in the first half of the regular-season opsener.
• Bo Browder matched the best eight-game start (7-1)
of his 10 seasons as Xavier's head coach.
• One victory against a ranked NAIA opponent — 57-52
against No. 23 Berry on November 14.
• 4,321 fans attended the Allstate Sugar Bowl Crosstown Classic, a January 24 doubleheader at
New Orleans Arena involving the men's and women's teams of Xavier and Dillard. Attendance was
more than 150 percent higher than the previous season.

of St. Louis and Lafayette High School.
• Christina Warren
of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Los Osos High School and Chaffey College.

Xavier in 2009-10 became the second Gulf Coast Athletic Conference women's
team to finish 18-0 in the league. Then the Gold Nuggets captured the GCAC
Tournament with three more victories.
