Next:   The Gold Nuggets will play Faulkner at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 at the Convocation Center. It will be the start of Xavier's seventh season of intercollegiate volleyball. Xavier will enter 2014 as a three-time defending champion of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular season and tournament.

XU Will Enter the 2014 Season With These Streaks:
  •  Regular Season:  Won 17 in a row (school record)
  •  Home:  Won 13 in a row (school record)
  •  Home in One Season:  Won 9 in a row (school record . . . first XU volleyball team to go unbeaten at home in a season)
  •  Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Regular Season:  Won 34 in a row
  •  Overall vs. GCAC Opponents:  Won 43 in a row (including tournaments)

The Record:   Xavier was 26-8 overall — that's a school record for victories in a season — and 12-0 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference in 2013. The Gold Nuggets were unbeaten in the GCAC for the third consecutive regular season. They also set a school record with a 20-match win streak.

Most Recently:   Xavier lost 25-14, 19-25, 19-25, 26-24, 15-6 at Spring Hill in the opening round of the NAIA National Championship. It was Xavier's third conecutive appearance in the national tournament.

Championship Grade:   The 2013 volleyball team is the first at XU in any sport to have six Capital One Academic All-District nominees. Congratulations to Jodi Chatters, Chinedu Echebelem, Jodi Hill, Franziska Pirkl, Alexandria Rencher and Taylor Reuther for qualifying.

All-GCAC:   Moira Kirk, Taylor Reuther and Franziska Pirkl were repeat first-team selections in 2013. Kirk and Reuther made the first team for the third consecutive year.

High Grade:   Taylor Reuther in 2012 was the first XU female in any sport to be named Capital One Academic All-America.

A Proud Tradition:   Under Xavier's current head coaches (all sports), 125 of 130 senior student-athletes received degrees from Xavier or are still enrolled.

2011 GCAC Tournament champions

Xavier finished 23-7 in 2011, won its first GCAC regular-season and tournament championships and made its first appearance in the NAIA National Championship. The winning season was the Gold Nuggets' first.


Gulf Coast Athletic Conference

National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
The Xavier Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets compete in Division I of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) as a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC). Xavier fields men's teams in basketball, cross country, tennis and track and field and women's teams in basketball, cross country, tennis, track and field and volleyball.
