Fellowship of Christian Athletes/
Champions of Character Initiative


The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a student organization administered by Xavier student-athletes. The organization is open to all full-time and part-time students. The organization meets on a monthly basis for prayer and fellowship. The organization also sponsors several community projects. Additionally, the organization leads the department in the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative which promotes respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship, and servant leadership in the athletics program. Athletic and Academic Counseling

All Xavier students are assigned counselors through their perspective college. Counselors review students' schedules and review their progress for graduation among other topics. The faculty athletics representative also acts as a secondary athletics academic counselor to the student-athlete to ensure that students' schedules and progress toward graduation are met. Head coaches also are responsible for tracking their student-athletes' class attendance, grade-point averages and progress toward their degrees. The athletics department believes very strongly that academics comes first and foremost, and its goal is to graduate 100 percent of its student-athletes.

Athletics Training and Medicine

The athletics department provides athletics training, rehabilitation and medical services through a full-time athletics trainer. The athletics trainer provides training-room hours and provides coverage at home and away games as well as practices. A team of doctors also provides coverage at home games and handles all sports-related injuries and rehabilitation.

Student Services Division

The Student Services Division provides services for all Xavier students to compliment and enhance the classroom experience and relate to the total education of the student. These services include:

Student Health Services — Students may visit Student Health Services whenever they are concerned about any type of health or physical problem that they are having. Student Health Services provide doctors and certified nurses to examine patients.

Counseling and Career Services — These departments help students meet expectations in the classroom, get the most out of university life and receive career- or job-advancement possibilities. Counseling, tutoring, and other services are available to students.

University Center and Food Services — A state-of-the-art university center opened in 2003 and houses a large cafeteria, bookstore, internet café, ballroom, meeting rooms, copying services, post office and offices.

Residential Life (Housing) — The residence halls are designed to support the academic and personal goals of its residents. It provides an environment to share activities and interests with others through programs implemented by university departments and student organizations. The halls aid the student in developing the foundation for lasting relationships with peers and the experiences of independence and responsibility associated with community living.

Recreational Sports — A variety of intramural sports and recreational activities are available to Xavier students. Intramurals include flag football, basketball, volleyball and softball. Recreational activities include aerobics.

Student Activities — This department oversees a great deal of students' leisure and extracurricular activities. Students can take part in many activities and become involved in a variety of student organizations. Some of the organizations include fraternities, sororities and student government.
