ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Southeastern Louisiana still undefeated after beating XU
March 3, 2013
Results
HAMMOND, La. — Southeastern Louisiana remained
unbeaten this season with a 7-0 women's tennis victory against Xavier
University of Louisiana.
The Lady Lions, who compete in NCAA Division I, are
9-0. The Gold Nuggets, ranked 11th in the NAIA, are 4-5 after their fourth
loss in five duals, and it's the first time this season they're below .500.
All XU losses this season are to NCAA D-I opponents.
Although Xavier lost to SLU for the third consecutive
season, the Gold Nuggets showed improvement. Three XU players — Amanda
Materre, Simone-Alyse Ewell and Amber Brown — won first sets in singles.
The Nuggets won 51 singles games, more than they did in the previous two
meetings against SLU combined (38). And it was three games more than the
Nuggets won in singles Friday in a 6-3 home loss to Southern.
"For some reason, matches play out in weird ways," XU
coach Alan Green said. "I feel much better about how we played today than in the
last match. I feel good about our team moving forward."
Materre lost 0-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 to Nastya Tokareva at
No. 2. Renee Villarreal beat Ewell 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4. And Adriana Castillo
defeated Amber Brown 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-5) at No. 6. Tokareva is 9-0 this
semester, and Villarreal is 7-0.
Sarah Kriem and Reginka Nychytailova clinched the
doubles point with their 8-4 victory against Kourtney Howell and Brion Flowers
at No. 1. Valya Rusakova clinched the dual with her 6-3, 6-3 victory against
Flowers at No. 3 singles.
The Xavier women's and men's home dual against Shorter,
scheduled for Monday, was postponed to April. The next competition for the Gold
Nuggets and Gold Rush will be Friday in the AUM Invitational at Montgomery, Ala.
Opponents and times have not been announced.
