Franklin earns her 2nd GCAC Player of the Week honor

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
women's basketball standout SiMon Franklin has won her second Gulf Coast
Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor this season.
Franklin — a 5-foot-7 senior guard from
Baton Rouge, La., and a 2008 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy — won the
award for Feb. 4-10 after averaging 15 points, three rebounds and four steals and shooting
57.9 percent from the floor during the Gold Nuggets' 2-0 week.
Her 30 aggregate points came in 49 minutes in Xavier's multi-platoon system.
Franklin scored 22 points — the second 20-point game of her career —
in Xavier's 61-53 victory Saturday at Philander Smith.
Franklin became the 22nd XU female to reach 200 career steals
and the ninth XU female with 1,000 points, 300 rebounds and 200 steals in a career.
Xavier will visit SUNO at 5 p.m. Saturday at The Castle
in a matchup of GCAC tri-leaders.

The Xavier Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets compete in Division I of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) as a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC).
Xavier fields men's teams in basketball, cross country, tennis and track and field and women's teams in basketball, cross country, tennis, track and field and volleyball.
