Rush are 13th in NAIA rankings after dropping two spots

NEW ORLEANS — For the third time this season and
the second time in three weeks, Xavier University of Louisiana is 13th in
the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
The Gold Rush dropped two places in the rankings, which were announced Tuesday afternoon.
Voting was based on games through Sunday. The Gold Rush
split a pair of Gulf Coast Athletic Conference games, losing 74-65 at home to
Fisk on Jan. 21 and winning 54-34 Saturday at city rival Dillard. Against the Bleu Devils, the XU men
allowed their fewest points in a road game since the program resumed in 1967-68.
Xavier shares first place in the GCAC with Philander
Smith, which is 23rd for the second consecutive week and in the top 25 for the
third straight week. Also receiving votes from the GCAC was SUNO, which
is 30th with 18 points.
Xavier is in the top 25 for the 31st time in 32 polls
and the 56th time overall during Dannton Jackson's 10 seasons as head coach.
Xavier's current streak is 18 consecutive polls, fifth longest among this week's top 25.
Xavier will play its next two games at the Convocation Center against
GCAC opponents: noon Saturday against Talladega and 7:30 p.m. Monday
against Edward Waters.
