ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Nuggets tied for 34th in final poll before national meet
|
November 8, 2012
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
lost five points from the previous voting but still remained 34th in the
NAIA Women's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 poll announced Sunday.
It's the final ranking before the NAIA National Championships, which will
be run Nov. 17 — one week from Saturday — in Vancouver, Wash.
The Gold Nuggets, who tied a Gulf Coast Athletic
Conference record Oct. 20 by winning their seventh consecutive GCAC team championship,
share their national position with Southern Oregon. The XU
women have collected more points in this season's polls (60) than they did
in all prior seasons combined (50).
It's the fourth time this season the Gold Nuggets
ranked 34th — their highest position since the 2008 preseason, when they were 32nd.
It's also the first time in the program's history that the Nuggets collected
double-digit points in consecutive polls.
British Columbia is No. 1, replacing three-time
defending champion Cal State Marcos, which fell to second.
Both XU teams have qualified for the national meet
by virtue of their GCAC team championships, and for both it's their second
consecutive appearance at nationals and their fourth in five years. The
Gold Nuggets placed 30th and the Gold Rush 31st at the 2011 national meet.
The final poll of 2012 will be released Nov. 22,
five days after nationals.
At nationals, the 5,000-meter women's race will start
at 10:30 a.m. PST, followed by the 8,000-meter men's race at 11:45 a.m.
The races will be run for the fourth consecutive year at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
