XU's Reuther on Capital One Academic All-District team

November 8, 2012

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana women's volleyball standout Taylor Reuther earned another honor Thursday.
One day after being chosen Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Reuther was announced as a member of the Capital One Academic All-District 4 college division team. She is the first in Xavier's five seasons of volleyball to reach this distinction.
Reuther, a sophomore outside hitter from Metairie, La., and a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High School, is a pre-pharmacy major with a 3.90 grade-point average. She is a two-time All-GCAC selection and led the Gold Nuggets during the regular season with 286 kills, 66 aces and 251 digs in 25 matches. She ranks second in the NAIA in aces per set.
The College Sports Information Directors of America selected the eight-member team. Xavier has produced seven Academic All-District athletes, all in the past five seasons.
District 4 in the college division comprises athletes in Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee. Xavier and Florida Memorial (District 2 of the college division) were the only HBCUs to be represented on the any of the Academic All-District volleyball teams this year. Reuther is the only Louisiana resident and the only student-athlete from a Louisiana university to receive the honor this year.
