In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Mobile can't shake off Rust; Lady Bearcats win 62-61
November 25, 2011
Box score
NEW ORLEANS — It was a reversal of fortune for
the Rust Lady Bearcats at the Xavier Classic.
Rust — beaten by a Dillard 3-pointer in the closing seconds of overtime one
day earlier — supplied the late heroics Friday.
Marian Lee scored a layup on an inbounds pass with two-tenths of a second remaining
to give the Lady Bearcats a 62-61 victory against Mobile.
Rust (3-5) trailed 59-50 with 3½ minutes remaining before
closing with a 12-2 burst which gave the Lady Rams (2-5) their second narrow defeat
of this event.
Al'Lisha Hudson had 20 points and 10 rebounds for
NCAA Division III Rust and scored 10 of her 18 second-half points, including two
3-pointers, during the closing rally.
Hudson's basket with 16 seconds remaining cut Mobile's
lead to 61-60. The Lady Rams missed three straight free throws afterward, two
by Alice Honnery with 11 seconds remaining.
Hudson missed a shot with two seconds remaining, but Mobile
touched the ball last before it went out of bounds under the Rust basket.
After a Rust timeout, Tremelanie McFadden passed to Lee for the winning points.
Lee then intercepted at halfcourt a Mobile pass as the buzzer sounded.
Jessica Brown scored 10 points for Rust. McFadden had 11
assists, and Telicia Gayden matched Hudson's 10 rebounds to help the Lady Bearcats
outrebound Mobile 56-36.
Honnery had 16 points, nine rebounds, six blocked shots,
three assists and three steals for NAIA member Mobile, which missed two shots in the final possession
of a 61-58 loss to Tuskegee on Thursday. Allison Michael scored 12 points, all in
the second half.
Mobile committed 12 turnovers and gained 27
but missed 12-of-19 free throws. The Lady Rams outscored Rust 11-1 in the first
six minutes and took their biggest lead, 24-11, on Honnery's basket with five
minutes remaining in the half. But Destini Shannon scored six points
in the final three minutes to help Rust close the margin to 30-25 by halftime.
