Gay leads Lady Rams in sweep of Gold Nuggets

MOBILE, Ala. — Kiara Gay had 13 kills, 11 digs
and hit .429 Saturday to lead Mobile in a 25-19, 25-15, 25-17 women's volleyball
victory against Xavier University of Louisiana.
The Lady Rams (20-11) avenged a five-set loss at Xavier (15-6)
from August. Mobile has won five straight and 13 of its past 15 matches.
Mobile rallied from a 13-11 first-set deficit. The Lady Rams
used an 11-1 run to erase the Gold Nuggets' final lead, 4-3 in the second set.
Taylor Reuther had eight kills and 12 digs for Xavier.
Mobile outhit the Nuggets .276 to .086 and had advantages of 41-21 in kills,
9-3 in aces and 45-38 in digs.
Xavier, which has four regular-season matches remaining,
will play three times next week, beginning with a 7 p.m. Tuesday contest against
the University of New Orleans at UNO's Human Performance Center.
