ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Xavier men's No. 8 ranking is their highest ever
|
March 8, 2011
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana is
No. 8 in the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll
announced Tuesday. It's the highest-ever ranking for an XU tennis team.
XU's men (8-3) climbed six spots after winning
6-3 Friday at then-No. 7 Vanguard. XU's highest previous ranking in NAIA men's
tennis was 13th, reached once last season and twice in 2009. The only other
time an XU tennis team appeared in the top 10 was when the women were ninth
on March 7, 2007.
Coach Alan Green's Gold Rush have appeared in 27
consecutive polls dating to April 4, 2007, and it's the 18th straight time dating
to April 30, 2008, that the Gold Rush are among the top 18. This is the
first time Xavier reached No. 8 in an NAIA poll since the women's basketball
team held that spot on Feb. 1, 2005.
This is the second XU team to reach the top 10
in 2010-11. The men's basketball team was in the top 10 in three of the
first 11 polls this season, with a high of ninth on Dec. 13.
Records of this week's top 25 are inclusive
through Sunday. Xavier's 5-4 loss Monday at Westmont, which climbed
from eighth to seventh, was not considered in the voting.
XU's men will play NCAA Division I opponent
Radford at 10 a.m. Wednesday at City Park Tennis Center.
