ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

NEW ORLEANS — Devin Andrew and Anthony Simmons,
the top two scorers on the Xavier University of Louisiana men's
basketball team, have been chosen All-Gulf Coast Athletic
Conference by the league's head coaches.
The two helped Xavier go 26-4 during
the regular season — the most victories by the Gold Rush since
1983-84 — and earn a No. 17 ranking in this week's NAIA
Division I coaches poll.
"I am elated for Devin and Anthony," XU Coach
Dannton Jackson said. "They have contributed significantly to our success this season.
It's nice for them to be rewarded with postseason honors."

Andrew, a 6-foot-4 senior guard from Harvey, La., and
a graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School in Houma, leads the Gold
Rush with 10.9 points per game, 39 steals and 103 made free throws. He
scored in the final two seconds to beat Loyola and SUNO in January. Andrew
also attended Edna Karr High School in New Orleans before transferring to Vandebilt.
Simmons, a 6-8 sophomore forward from Rochester, N.Y.,
and a graduate of Allendale Columbia School, is averaging 9.8 points and leads
the Gold Rush with 5.9 rebounds per game, a .605 field-goal percentage and
three double-doubles. His game highs of 24 points and 13 rebounds also
lead the Gold Rush.
The XU men are seeded second in the GCAC Tournament
at Jacksonville, Fla., and will play third-seeded SUNO or sixth-seeded Fisk in
the semifinals at 6 p.m. EST Friday.
