ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Rush win 2 games but stay the same in NAIA poll
|
February 28, 2011
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
added to its resume but wound up in the same spot Monday in the NAIA Division I
Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25.
The Gold Rush (26-4) — a wire-to-wire 56-51
winner over St. Thomas (Texas) on Tuesday and a come-from-behind 72-59 winner against
Dillard in the Crosstown Classic on Saturday — are 17th for the second straight
week. XU's 145 points also are the same as last week.
But the sameness was a welcome change of pace for
the XU men, who dropped seven spots over the previous two polls.
Next for the Gold Rush will be a trip to
Jacksonville, Fla., for the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.
Xavier will be the No. 2 seed, which means a bye in Thursday's opening
round and a spot in Friday's semifinals. Xavier's tip-off time will be
announced Wednesday. Tournament venue will be the Adams-Jenkins Sports
and Music Complex at Edward Waters College.
Tougaloo, the tournament's No. 1 seed, remained
13th in the poll.
Xavier's 26 victories are its most since the
1983-84 season, when the Gold Rush finished 27-5. Xavier is the winningest
New Orleans men's college basketball team since SUNO
was 26-6 in 2001-02.
