ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Nuggets 20th in NAIA poll after climbing one place
|
February 28, 2011
NEW ORLEANS — A victory over a city rival
helped Xavier University of Louisiana
climb one spot Monday in the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25.
The Gold Nuggets (24-6) are 20th after winning 59-54
at home Saturday against Dillard in the Crosstown Classic. It was the
Nuggets' 24th consecutive Gulf Coast Athletic Conference victory,
and it solidified their No. 1 seeding in the GCAC Tournament.
The conference tournament will start Thursday
at Edward Waters College's Adams-Jenkins Sports and Music Complex in
Jacksonville, Fla. The Gold Nuggets, the tournament's defending
champion, have a first-round bye and will play Friday in the semifinals.
No starting time has been announced.
This is the 11th poll of the season.
It's the 17th consecutive appearance in the top 25 for Xavier's women,
beginning with the poll of Jan. 25, 2010.
SUNO, the No. 2 seed in the GCAC tourney,
did not receive a vote for the first time in eight polls.
The Lady Knights closed the regular season with three consecutive
losses.
The final poll will be announced March 9
after all conference tournaments have concluded.
