In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Xavier dropped one set in seven completed matches.
Sean Richardson won 6-0, 6-0 against Gregory Ruffin at No. 4 singles, and Jonathan Aubrey

for an 8-0 victory over Skyler Dowdy and Ruffin to clinch the doubles point at No. 2.
The lone match with suspense involved Zach Taylor and
Lawrence Washington at No. 1 singles. Taylor rallied from a 5-2 deficit in third
set and a 7-3 deficit during the super-tiebreaker to win 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7).
Also winning were Taylor and Hassan Abbas in an 8-4
No. 1 doubles decision against Washington and Shaun Ingram, Giles-Osborn by 6-1, 6-0
over Shaun Ingram at No. 2 singles and Amir Rahbar by 6-1, 6-1 against Dowdy at No. 3.
Tennessee State, playing its opener, had just five available
players and defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
The next Gold Rush match will start March 4 at Vanguard
in Costa Mesa, Calif. Vanguard was tied for sixth in the NAIA preseason rankings,
and a new top 25 will be announced Tuesday.
