Weather gives Xavier and SLU the cold shoulder
February 2, 2011
NEW ORLEANS — Afternoon temperatures in the
upper 30s — about 25 degrees below normal for this time of year —
and a wind chill in the upper 20s prompted Xavier University of Louisiana and
Southeastern Louisiana to postpone their women's tennis dual match Wednesday at the
University of New Orleans.
No makeup date has been announced. It's the second
postponement in four days for Xavier, whose men's and women's duals against
Loyola were rained out Sunday.
XU's men and women are scheduled to play West Alabama
at 1 p.m. Thursday at UNO, but the forecast calls for temperatures in the upper
30s and a 70 percent chance of rain.

The Xavier Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets compete in Division I of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) as a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC). Xavier fields men's teams
in basketball, cross country and tennis and women's teams in basketball, cross country, tennis and volleyball.
