ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Rush match their highest preseason ranking
|
February 1, 2011
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
is 14th for the second straight year — matching the program's highest
preseason ranking — in the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll announced Tuesday.
XU's men, who were 13-14 last season and reached
the second round of the NAIA National Championship, opened their season
Friday with a home loss to NCAA Division I Kennesaw State.
It's the fifth consecutive year that the
Gold Rush appeared in the preseason top 25. The XU men have appeared
in 25 consecutive polls dating to April 4, 2007, and it's the 16th
straight time dating to April 30, 2008, that the Rush are among the
top 18. XU's highest ranking in NAIA men's tennis is 13th, reached once last
season and twice in 2009.
The next ranking will be announced Feb. 22.
Senior Hassan Abbas and juniors
Steffen Giles-Osborn and Sean Richardson are XU's returning lettermen.
All three were All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference last season, with Giles-Osborn
chosen Player of the Year and Abbas the Newcomer of the Year.
