ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Nuggets 22nd in NAIA preseason coaches poll
|
February 1, 2011
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
is 22nd in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll announced Tuesday.
It's the sixth consecutive time that the Gold Nuggets appeared in the preseason
top 25.
XU's women, who were 17-14 last season and reached
the second round of the NAIA National Championship for the third straight year,
opened their season Saturday with a loss at NCAA Division I Tulane.
The XU women have appeared in the top 25
42 consecutive times dating to Feb. 25, 2004. Xavier's highest ranking in
NAIA women's tennis is ninth, which occurred March 7, 2007. It's the
only time the Gold Nuggets reached the top 10.
The next ranking will be announced Feb. 22.
Seniors Melissa DeLoach and Ashley McGill and sophomore
Carmen Nelson are the Gold Nuggets' returning letterwomen. Nelson
was All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference in doubles last year.
Xavier is one of 18 NAIA members whose women's and men's
tennis teams are in the preseason top 25.
