ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Nuggets earn highest NAIA rank since February 2005
|
January 31, 2011
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
reached a six-year peak Monday when it climbed two spots to 14th in the NAIA
Division I Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25.
It's the highest ranking for the Gold Nuggets (19-4)
since Feb. 15, 2005, when they were 11th. Xavier was 2-0
last week, rallying from 15 down for a 48-47 home victory against
Mobile and winning 64-47 at SUNO.
Xavier was one of 10 teams from last week's top 25
to climb two or more places. Eleven ranked teams, including seven of the top 12,
lost last week. Union (Tenn.), the lone unbeaten team and two-time
defending national champion, is No. 1 for the 43rd consecutive time.
SUNO, the other Gulf Coast Athletic Conference
team receiving votes, collected six points, seven fewer than a week ago,
to tie for 33rd place. The Nuggets on Saturday handed SUNO its first loss of
the season.
Xavier will play Belhaven, the last team to defeat
the Nuggets, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Barn, then travel to Dillard for a 5 p.m.
game Saturday against its GCAC, city and HBCU rival. Belhaven received votes
in the poll and ranks 32nd.
