ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Rush fall to 13th place in NAIA Division I Top 25
|
January 11, 2011
NEW ORLEANS — Two losses in six games
dropped Xavier University of Louisiana four spots to 13th in the
NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 announced Monday.
It's the fourth poll of 2010-11, the third of
the regular season and the first since Dec. 13. The Gold Rush were
20th in the preseason, then climbed to 10th and ninth in consecutive December
rankings.
After a 13-0 start — the first for the
Gold Rush since the 1940-41 season — Xavier lost 61-58 to Dakota
Wesleyan in the Miami Gardens (Fla.) Classic on Dec. 30. Nine days later,
Xavier lost 66-55 at Belhaven.
But Xavier also had a pair of notable victories
between polls — 76-66 on Dec. 18 at William Carey, which entered that game
with five victories against ranked teams, and 72-58 two days later at Southern,
the first XU regular-season victory against an NCAA Division I opponent since 2000.
Xavier (15-2) completed a season sweep of William Carey with
a 53-50 victory Monday at The Barn. The Rush will continue a five-game home
stand with 7 p.m. matchups against Loyola on Saturday and Spring Hill next
Monday.
