ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Nuggets drop into tie for 17th in NAIA Division I Top 25
|
January 11, 2011
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
dropped two spots into a tie for 17th in the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball
Coaches' Top 25 on Monday.
This is the fourth poll of 2010-11, the third of
the regular season and the first since Dec. 13.
Xavier is tied for 17th with Southern Polytechnic. Despite the drop it's the Gold Nuggets' highest rank
in the first January poll of a season since 2005, when they were 11th.
The Gold Nuggets (15-4) won four of six games between
polls and picked up another victory Monday — after the
new rankings were announced — when they defeated William Carey 56-41
at The Barn.
The XU women will continue a four-game home stand
at 5 p.m. Saturday when they play city rival Loyola at The Barn.
The other home games will be Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. against Tougaloo —
the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference opener for both schools —
and Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m. against Mobile. Loyola and Mobile
received poll votes this week.
XU's women have won 36 of their last 41 games,
and they lead NAIA Division I in scoring defense with 47.9 points allowed
per game. Xavier led NAIA Division I in the same category last season.
