ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

NEW ORLEANS — Devin Andrew scored 14 points
Monday to lead NAIA No. 13 Xavier University of Louisiana to a 53-50 men's
basketball victory over William Carey.
Despite scoring its fewest points in a game this
season, Xavier (15-2) won for the 13th straight time at
The Barn and completed a two-game season sweep of the Crusaders (8-7). The
Gold Rush are 32-1 in non-conference home games during the last four seasons.
Andrew scored in double figures for a team-leading 15th
time this season. Michael Harvey and Anthony Simmons added 10 points
apiece for Xavier, and Chris Iles' two free throws with 2:54 remaining put the
Gold Rush ahead to stay, 48-47. It was the game's 13th lead change.
Kevin Branch missed a 3-pointer at the final buzzer for
William Carey, which has lost four straight.
Drew Meyerchick led the Crusaders with 17 points and
was his team's only double-figure scorer.
Xavier trailed 17-11 in the 15th minute before rallying
for a 24-23 halftime advantage. William Carey reclaimed the lead in the second
half and led 36-31 after Donzedrick Smith's basket with 11:41 remaining.
Xavier shot a season-worst 32.5 percent from the floor
but outscored the Crusaders 25-9 in made free throws. Simmons grabbed eight
rebounds and Denzell Erves seven to lead Xavier to a 35-30 advantage on
the boards.
Xavier, winner of 19 of its last 22 games, will play
