3-seed Xavier to play Tougaloo in GCAC Tournament

NEW ORLEANS — The Xavier University of Louisiana women's
volleyball team will play Tougaloo at 11 a.m. Friday in tne opening round of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at Dillard's Dent Hall Gymnasium.
The Gold Nuggets (8-24) are seeded third, and Tougaloo (0-12) is No. 6.
All six GCAC members will compete, and the tournament is double-elimination. There will be six matches Friday.
Xavier was 2-0 against Tougaloo during the regular season, winning 25-11, 25-15, 25-14 at The Barn on Sept. 11 and 25-4, 25-8, 25-10 at Tougaloo on Oct. 22.
If Xavier defeats Tougaloo, the Gold Nuggets will play second-seeded SUNO at 3 p.m. Friday.
The GCAC's first-year members, fourth-seeded Edward Waters and fifth-seeded Fisk, will open the tournament
at 9 a.m. Dillard, the No. 1 seed, will play the Edward Waters-Fisk winner at 1 p.m.
If Tougaloo defeats Xavier, the Nuggets will play an elimination match at 5 p.m. Friday.
The tournament will conclude Saturday.
The winner of the tournament will be crowned GCAC champion and earn an
automatic berth in the NAIA National Championship. First-round matches of the national tournament
will be played Nov. 20.
This will be Xavier's third GCAC Tournament appearance and first since
2004. Xavier reinstated intercollegiate volleyball this season after a five-year absence. Xavier,
winner of 25 GCAC championships the last six years in six other sports, seeks its first conference
volleyball title.

Match 11 — Immediately following match 10 . . . This match will only be
