In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

CLINTON, Miss. — Matt Pieri and Ray Walston
recorded season bests for 8,000 meters Friday to lead the Xavier University of
Louisiana men's cross country team in the Mississippi College/Watson Ford
Invitational at Choctaw Trails.
Pieri finished in 28 minutes, 15.31 seconds —
nearly 57 seconds faster than his previous best — and was 18th out of 74
runners in the non-NCAA Division I group. Walston shaved approximately 75
seconds from his season low and finished 22nd in 28:47.93.
Anna D'Souza (17th out of 71 runners, 26:09.58) and
Donyé Coleman (30th, 27:50.90) were Xavier's top finishers in the 6,000-meter
women's race.
Xavier scored 133 points to finish sixth out of 10
women's teams and 162 points to place seventh out of 10 men's teams.
Leaders among the non-D1 women were SUNO's Monicah
Jepkemboi (24:09.08) and West Florida with 31 points. West Florida's Eddie
Pagan was the fastest male finisher (26:19.99) and led the Argonauts to the
team championship with 25 points.
Southern Miss had the fastest three women among the
Division I schools — Stephanie Ledgerwood was first in 22:44.91 —
but Tulane outscored the Lady Golden Eagles 44-46 to win the team championship.
Grambling's Darwin Price won the D1 men's race (25:20.39), and Mississippi
Valley outscored Grambling 54-60 for the team title. Nine men's teams and nine
