In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Nuggets to play 16 at home, travel 3 times to Florida
October 5, 2010
NEW ORLEANS — Sixteen home games, three trips
to Florida and five first-time opponents are on the 2010-11 Xavier University
of Louisiana women's basketball schedule.
Bo Browder, back for his 12th season as head coach of the Gold
Nuggets, announced Tuesday the schedule, which includes 30 regular-season
games.
Xavier will open the season, the 33rd in
the program's modern era, at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29 against
Florida Memorial at The Barn. It will be the Gold Nuggets' earliest regular-season
opener.
Home opponents include Langston — an NAIA Division I
National Championship qualifier each of the past four seasons — and
NCAA Division I member Grambling on Nov. 25-26 in the Xavier Classic, an annual
Thanksgiving event. Lee (Tenn.),
a semifinalist at the 2010 NAIA Division I National Championship, will visit the Nuggets on Dec. 6.
Xavier will travel twice to Florida in December and a
third time for the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, which new member Edward
Waters will play host to March 3-5. The winner of the GCAC Tournament will
receive the league's automatic bid to the NAIA Division I National Championship.
Of the Nuggets' five December games in Florida, four
will feature first-time opponents: St. Thomas on Dec. 4, Webber International
on Dec. 16, Southeastern (Fla.) on Dec. 17 and William Woods on Dec. 18.
Webber International's Sabbagh Athletic Center will be the site of the
Xavier game against William Woods, an NAIA Division I National Championship qualifier in 2010.
The other first-time opponent will be Dallas Christian
at The Barn on Jan. 5.
Another NAIA Division I National Championship qualifier,
former GCAC member LSU-Shreveport, will play host to the Nuggets on Nov. 8 and visit The Barn on
Nov. 29 to conclude the Nuggets' five-game home stand. The homecoming game will
be Nov. 20 against Philander Smith.
Xavier will open defense of its GCAC championship Jan. 22 at The Barn
against Tougaloo. The conference schedule will include home-and-away matchups
with longtime city rivals SUNO (Jan. 29 at The Castle, Feb. 19 at The Barn)
and Dillard (Feb. 5 at Dent Hall, Feb. 26 at The Barn in the Crosstown Classic).
Xavier's home game against Dillard will include a
senior-night ceremony and be part of Rush/Nuggets Alumni Weekend. Dillard
will be the fourth team in the Xavier Classic.
Xavier's home game against SUNO will be a Women's
Basketball Coaches Association Pink Zone Game and a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness.
Xavier returns seven letterwomen from last season's team
which was 28-6 overall and 18-0 in the GCAC. Among the returnees is junior
All-GCAC guard Jasmine Grant. The Gold Nuggets in 2009-10 led NAIA Division I in scoring defense, reached
20 victories for the 17th time in 18 seasons and played in the NAIA Division I National
Championship for the 14th time in 16 seasons.
