Gold Nuggets lose to Loyola and Wallace State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Xavier University of Louisiana
women's volleyball team lost 25-20, 25-18, 25-16 to crosstown rival Loyola and 25-15,
23-25, 25-19, 25-14 to Wallace State Community College on Saturday in the BSC Fall Classic.
The Gold Nuggets (4-9) lost all four of their matches
in the tournament. They'll try to end a six-match losing streak when they travel
crosstown to Dillard for a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference match at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Wallace State is 25-1 and ranked 18th by the National
Junior College Athletic Association. But because Wallace State is a two-year
institution, the match did not count in Xavier's record or statistics.

The Xavier Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets compete in Division I of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) as a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC). Xavier fields men's teams
in basketball, cross country and tennis and women's teams in basketball, cross country, tennis and volleyball.
