ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

September 25, 2010
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — In a match with no service breaks, Florida
A&M's Chidi Gabriel and Takura Happy prevailed 9-8 (7-5) over Xavier University of
Louisiana's Steffen Giles-Osborn and Sean Richardson on Saturday in the men's
A-doubles final of the HBCU National Tennis Championships.
Xavier dropped all three of its championship matches.
Gabriel defeated Amir Rahbar 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 in the B-singles final, and Alcorn
State's Chan Rutherford and Dasha Rud defeated Carmen Nelson and Melissa DeLoach
8-3 in the women's B-doubles final.
In semifinal matches, Giles-Osborn and Richardson
defeated North Carolina Central's Jack Waissen and Trey Chatman 8-3, and Nelson
and DeLoach beat Prairie View A&M's Alejandra Barrera and Raven Lewis 8-4. Rahbar
and Jonathan Aubrey defaulted their men's B-doubles semifinal to FAMU's Fabrice Myrtil
and Marc Atkinson.
The tournament was the second for Xavier, which will
conclude its fall schedule by playing host to the USTA/ITA NAIA South Regional
at the University of New Orleans Tennis Center. That three-day event will begin Friday.
