ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Rush to play 2 from NCAA D1 and 17 home games
September 21, 2010
NEW ORLEANS — Repeat road matchups with NCAA Division I opponents Western
Kentucky and Southern are included on the 2010-11 Xavier University of Louisiana men's basketball
schedule.
Dannton Jackson, returning for his eighth season as head coach of the Gold
Rush, announced Tuesday the schedule, which includes one exhibition and 30 regular-season
games.
Xavier — picked first in the preseason coaches poll to win
the NAIA's Gulf Coast Athletic Conference — will visit Western Kentucky in a Nov. 4 exhibition and travel to Southern on Dec. 20
for the first regular-season meeting between Xavier and Southern
since the 2000-01 season. The Gold Rush and Jaguars met in exhibitions each of the
past two seasons.
For the second consecutive season Xavier will play 17 home games.
Xavier will open its 73rd season Oct. 30 with a 4 p.m. game at The Barn against Webber
International. XU's first six regular-season games will be at home.
The Gold Rush will play Philander Smith for homecoming at
2 p.m. on Nov. 20 and face Talladega — the 2010 USCAA national champion —
on Dec. 3 at The Barn. The Gold Rush will play Talladega for the first time since the 2001-02 season.
The lone first-time opponent will be Dakota Wesleyan, an
NAIA Division II member which was 28-6 a year ago. The Gold Rush will play the Tigers
on Dec. 30 in the Miami Gardens (Fla.) Classic. It'll be the second straight year that Xavier
plays in that event.
Xavier will play its GCAC opener Jan. 22 at The Barn
against Tougaloo. The GCAC Tournament will be March 3-5 at Jacksonville, Fla.,
with Edward Waters as host. The tournament champion will receive the GCAC's automatic bid
to the Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I National Championship, which will start
March 16 at Kansas City, Mo. Xavier reached the NAIA national tourney four consecutive seasons from 2004-2008.
The Gold Rush will play SUNO on senior night at The Barn
on Feb. 19 and Dillard in the Crosstown Classic at The Barn on Feb. 26. XU's home
matchup with Dillard will be part of Rush/Nuggets Alumni Weekend.
Xavier will play twice against 10 opponents, including
St. Thomas (Texas), which appears on the schedule for the first time since 1984-85.
The Gold Rush will play three road games in New Orleans: Dec. 6 at Loyola, Jan.
29 at SUNO and Feb. 5 at Dillard.
The Gold Rush's Feb. 22 game against St. Thomas (Texas)
at The Barn will be an NABC Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers game.
Jackson and his staff will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their usual
game attire that night to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer
Society and the fight against cancer. Fans also are invited to wear sneakers to that game.
Xavier returns seven lettermen from last season's 18-13
team, including All-GCAC and third-team All-Louisiana guard Michael Harvey.
The Gold Rush in 2009-10 ranked second in NAIA Division I in field-goal percentage
defense, sixth in scoring defense and defeated three ranked opponents. Xavier's 25 seasons of 20 or more victories are the most in the history of
Louisiana men's college basketball.
