In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Rush capture first place in GCAC preseason poll
September 20, 2010
|
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
is the preseason pick to win the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference men's basketball
championship in 2010-11.
The Gold Rush received 24 points in a poll of the
GCAC's head coaches. Tougaloo was second with 21 points.
"It's an honor that the coaches and peers
feel this way about your basketball team," eighth-year Xavier Coach Dannton
Jackson said. "But there are a lot of games to be played. We have
not played any games yet, so we are an unproven team. We look forward
to the challenges and the competition."
Xavier returns seven lettermen from last season's 18-13
team, including All-GCAC and third-team All-Louisiana guard Michael Harvey.
The Gold Rush in 2009-10 ranked second in NAIA Division I in field-goal percentage
defense, sixth in scoring defense and defeated three ranked opponents. Xavier's 25 seasons of 20 or more victories are the most in the history of
Louisiana men's college basketball.
