XU's Rahbar wins collegiate debut at UL Invitational

     LAFAYETTE, La. — Freshman Amir Rahbar of Xavier University of Louisiana began his collegiate tennis career with a 6-4, 6-1 victory Louisiana-Lafayette's Daniel Alban in C-flight singles at the UL Invitational on Friday.
     Rahbar, a 2010 graduate of Houston's Memorial High School, was the only XU player to win in the main draw. Lamar's Denis Ermilov defeated Steffen Giles-Osborn 7-6, 7-6 in the A-flight. UL Lafayette's Oscar Pachon beat Sean Richardson 6-4, 6-1 in the B-flight, and UL Lafayette's Frankie Hoar beat freshman Jonathan Aubrey 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the C-flight.
     The tournament, the first of three for the Gold Rush this fall, will conclude Sunday.

National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics

The Xavier Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets compete in Division I of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) as a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC). Xavier fields men's teams in basketball, cross country and tennis and women's teams in basketball, cross country, tennis and volleyball.
