ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Brown is Nuggets' first tennis signee of the year
May 5, 2010
NEW ORLEANS — Amber Brown of Decatur, Ga., is
the first women's tennis signee of 2010 for Xavier University of Louisiana.
TennisRecruiting.net ranks Brown, a 5-foot-6 right-hander
who is home-schooled, 27th in Georgia and 90th in the Southeast on its recruiting lists.
She was a doubles runner-up in USTA National Open Championships in 2006 and
2003.
Brown will be a psychology/pre-medical major at Xavier. She
chose Xavier over Carnegie Mellon — which is ranked 10th in NCAA Division III
— Case Western Reserve and NCAA Division I members Prairie View A&M
and Florida A&M.

"I think (Xavier) Coach (Alan) Green is really cool and very
nice," Brown said. "When I met the team they were all very friendly to me.
They made me feel right away like I was family. It was a warm experience and
environment."
Brown is the most recent Georgian
to sign with Xavier tennis. Three men and three women from metro Atlanta
were named All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference on Saturday, including GCAC Players
of the Year Anastesia Opata of Lawrenceville and Steffen Giles-Osborn of Atlanta.
The Gold Nuggets must replace three seniors — Opata,
Angelina Callis and Colleen McArthur — for next season. The XU women
are ranked 19th in the NAIA and will compete next at the NAIA
National Championships in Mobile, Ala., on May 18-22. They qualified for nationals
after winning the GCAC championship for the seventh time in eight seasons.
