In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

April 14, 2010
Results
ALEXANDRIA, La. — The Xavier University of
Louisiana men's tennis team defeated NCAA Division I opponent Prairie View
A&M 5-2 Wednesday to snap a season-worst six-match losing streak.
Mikhail Vaval clinched the victory — the first
for the Gold Rush since March 20 — with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 decision against
Christopher Jordan at No. 4 singles.
Xavier won the doubles point, and Steffen-Giles Osborn,
Hassan Abbas and Sean Richardson also recorded singles victories. Richardson
played the longest match of the dual, a 6-7 (8-6), 6-3, 7-5 decision over
Kristen Powell at No. 5.
Prairie View picked up one point by default at No. 6
singles — Xavier had just five available players for the sixth consecutive
dual — and scored the other point when Jose Garcia defeated Mario Myles
6-3, 6-4 at No. 3.
The Gold Rush, ranked 16th in the NAIA, is 10-12.
Both its non-conference victories are against NCAA D-I opponents. The victory
was Xavier's first on the road since Feb. 21.
Xavier's next match will be its regular-season finale
at noon Saturday at the University of New Orleans. The Gold Rush will be the
top seed for the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament on April 30-May 1
at the UNO Tennis Center.
