ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

March 10, 2010
Results
NEW ORLEANS — Lamar survived a pair of three-set
singles matches and defeated Xavier University of Louisiana 5-2 in a men's tennis
dual Wednesday at City Park.
The Gold Rush (7-3), ranked 13th in the NAIA, scored
when Hassan Abbas defeated Robert Lee 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Mikhail
Vaval beat Dusan Savkovic 6-4, 7-5. But Lamar (8-3) held a 4-2 lead through singles
after the Cardinals' Marton Horvath beat Sean Richardson 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 5
and Denis Ermilov rallied past Mario Myles 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.
Lamar clinched the match when Richard Filkuka and Diego
Snyder defeated Richardson and Cameron Knowles 8-5 at No. 3 singles. The other
two doubles matches were stopped at that point.
The loss was Xavier's second in a row after seven
consecutive victories, and it was the Gold Rush's second loss of the season
against an NCAA Division I opponent.
"The guys played tough against another good D1 team,"
Xavier Coach Alan Green said. "If we can play like that this weekend at the AUM
Invitational, we should do very well there."
