ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Xavier selects Alabama State assistant as volleyball coach
February 24, 2010
NEW ORLEANS — Al'lisa Hale is the new women's
volleyball coach at Xavier University of Louisiana, Athletics Director Dennis
Cousin announced Wednesday.
Hale, 28 and a native of Mobile, Ala., comes to Xavier
from NCAA Division I member Alabama State, where she was assistant volleyball
coach the past three seasons and the athletics department's CHAMPS/Life Skills
Program coordinator.

"Al'lisa has a tremendous amount of volleyball knowledge,
both as a player and as a recruiting coach," Cousin said. "We think she'll do an
excellent job at building this program from the ground up."
Xavier started a women's volleyball program in 2003 but
suspended it after two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The Gold Nuggets, a member of the NAIA and Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, will
resume competition in late August or early September.
"I like that it's a new program again. I can build it
exactly the way I like," Hale said. "That's what makes it better. This is a great
opportunity."
Hale is familiar with New Orleans after playing two
seasons (2000 and 2001) at the University of New Orleans. She then transferred
to Alabama A&M and helped the Bulldogs win Southwestern Athletic Conference
championships in 2002 and 2003. She was first-team All-SWAC as a senior
and made the second team as a junior.

As a freshman at UNO, Stallsworth was a member of
the Privateers' Sun Belt Conference Tournament runner-up team.
Hale, who was known in college as Kneckie Stallsworth,
received her bachelor's degree from Alabama A&M in 2005. Before going to
Alabama State she was the girls volleyball coach and girls assistant track
coach at Mobile's C.F. Vigor High School.
"Xavier's prestigious reputation attracted me to apply
for the job," Hale said. "I love the city. It has a great culture. There's a
great excitement that surrounds you there. It's a place that feels like home
to me."
Hale was a three-sport standout — volleyball,
basketball and track and field — at Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School
and was chosen the Azalea City Kiwanis Club Female Athlete of the Year for 1999-2000.
She was an all-state volleyball player her senior year when she helped McGill-Toolen
go 55-2 and win the Class 6A state championship.
Hale is the mother of a 5-year-old boy, Michael Antuan Hale
Jr. She will begin work at Xavier on Monday. Hale can be contacted at (334) 220-7284
or allisahale@yahoo.com.
