Abbas is GCAC Player of the Week
February 10, 2010
NEW ORLEANS — Hassan Abbas of Xavier University
of Louisiana is the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week in men's
tennis for Feb. 1-7.
Abbas, a junior from Saltaire, England, dropped only
one game while winning two singles matches and teamed with Steffen Giles-Osborn
to win two doubles matches and help the Gold Rush earn road shutouts of GCAC
opponents Mobile and Spring Hill. Abbas is 8-1 in singles in his first year at
Xavier and 3-0 during the spring semester.
Xavier, ranked 14th in the NAIA, will play Saturday
against GCAC opponents Belhaven at 10 a.m. and Tougaloo at 2 p.m. at the University
of New Orleans Tennis Center.
