In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Box score
MOBILE, Ala. — Robert Golston had 13 points and
eight rebounds Thursday to help Mobile hold off Xavier University of Louisiana
59-53 in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference men's basketball game.
The Rams (9-5 overall, 2-3 GCAC) won their second in
a row and handed the Gold Rush (10-7, 1-4) its fifth loss in six games.
Ji Kimbrough scored 12 points and Donte Walker 10
for Mobile.
Cordell Hadnot and Michael Harvey scored 14 points
apiece for Xavier.
Mobile led 30-29 at halftime and went ahead to stay
34-33 on Matthew Turner's basket with 18:12 remaining. The Rams built their lead
to 45-36 before Xavier rallied in the final 10 minutes.
But Mobile survived when Xavier's Ryan DeRousselle was
called for an offensive foul at 1:35 and the Rams leading 53-51. Mobile
answered with a 6-0 run which Golston capped with two free throws with six
seconds remaining.
Xavier outshot Mobile 49 to 40 percent from the floor, but
the Rams outscored the Rush 15-0 from 3-point range and 24-19 in free throws. Harvey,
who made a career-best four 3-pointers in each of the past two games, was 0-of-4 from
behind the arc, and the Rush finished 0-of-8.
Xavier missed 14 free throws, eight more than the Rams.
There were five lead changes and five ties in the
first half, but Xavier never had more than a two-point lead.
Xavier's next game will start at 7 p.m. Saturday
against William Carey at The Barn. It will be the first of three GCAC home
games in six days for the Rush.
