Both XU teams receive votes in NAIA coaches polls

NEW ORLEANS — Both Xavier University of Louisiana
basketball teams received votes in the NAIA Division I coaches polls announced Monday.
The polls are the second of the 2009-10 season and the
first since the preseason rankings in October.
Xavier's women (6-1) received 50 points to rank
28th, but the Gold Nuggets needed 74 points to make the top 25.
Xavier's men (7-1) received one point —
their first vote of the season — to tie for 36th place with nine other schools.
The No. 1 teams are Mountain State's men (12-0) and the
Union (Tenn.) women (10-1).
Xavier's next men's game will start at 2 p.m. Saturday
against Texas College — the only team to beat the Gold Rush — in the Wiley Classic at
Marshall, Texas. The Gold Nuggets, who haven't played since the day after Thanksgiving,
will next compete Dec. 28 at Concordia (Calif.) in the Surf City Classic at Irvine.
