ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

LAFAYETTE, La. — Xavier University of Louisiana's
Ebony Harding and Mark Dotson recorded the third fastest times in school history Friday
at the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational cross country meet.
Harding ran 5,000 meters in 20 minutes, 9.1 seconds to
finish fifth out of 23 female runners. It was the 13th top-10 finish of her career
and 10th time in the top five. Harding owns the six fastest 5K times in Gold Nuggets history.
Dotson placed fourth out of 34 in the men's four-mile race in
21:58.7 — 27 hundredths of a second from his career best. It was Dotson's
third top-five finish in as many collegiate meets.
Matt Pieri was sixth for the Gold Rush in 22:17.6 —
his third top-six in as many collegiate races — and Darren Wallace was 10th with a season-best
22:34.0. The top-10 finish was Wallace's third in a row, and Pieri's and Wallace's times
rank 6-7 on XU's all-time list.
XU's James Hearn ran a career-best 25:34.3. Running season
bests were the Gold Nuggets' Ashley Taylor (22:33.4) and Jennifer Garcia (23:44.9)
and Jordan Wilson (25:29.5) and Mario Myles (26:00.4) of the Gold Rush.
Louisiana-Lafayette won both team titles and had both
individual champions — Ashley Faulk (19:22.7) in the women's race and Reese Lee (21:43.2) in the men's.
Both XU teams will compete next at the LSU Invitational on Sept. 26.
