ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

XU Archives displays athletics history in fall library exhibit
September 16, 2009
NEW ORLEANS — The history of athletics at Xavier
University of Louisiana is being showcased by Xavier Archives during the fall 2009 semester in a third-floor
exhibit at the university's Library Resource Center.
The glass-encased display is called "Rush for the Gold — Athletics
at Xavier University 1925-2001" and it features team and game photographs, publications,
trophies and other memorabilia from XU's intercollegiate and intramural teams and spirit groups.
A "did-you-know?" fact for post-baby boomers: Xavier played
intercollegiate football through 1959. The Gold Rush played home games on campus where
the library now stands.
XU associate archivist Irwin Lachoff compiled the display with assistance
from sports information director Ed Cassiere.
There is no charge to view the exhibit. Library hours are Monday through
Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to midnight, Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from noon
to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to midnight.
