In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

DJ Augustin brings point guard school to The Barn
August 7, 2009
NEW ORLEANS — Last summer DJ Augustin was a guest lecturer
at the Xavier University of Louisiana Basketball Camp. This week he's back at The Barn
to conduct a free, invitation-only school for some of the nation's top male high-school point guards.
The DJ Augustin Point Guard School, which began Thursday and will conclude
Saturday, features on-court instruction from Augustin — a native New Orleanian and an NBA
All-Rookie second-team selection this past season with the Charlotte Bobcats — and plenty of discussion about the business of basketball.
In separate question-and-answer sessions with the players and their parents, Augustin
covered many topics — including recruiting, academics, training, nutrition, finances and
relationships — with a goal of paying it forward.
"I didn't have anything like this (school) when I was in high school,"
Augustin said. "I wanted to share what I've learned and what to expect as they move on to college
and maybe the NBA."
The Barn is the site of the DJ Augustin Point Guard School primarily
because of Augustin's close relationship with XU men's basketball coach Dannton Jackson, who coached
Augustin on teams for several summers.
"DJ Augustin is a great young man who will be successful long after
he stops playing," said Jackson, who is 134-62 with four appearances in the NAIA Division
I National Championship in six seasons as coach of the Gold Rush. "It's an honor and a
privilege to continue my association with DJ here at The Barn this summer"
