ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

NEW ORLEANS — Stephanie Moore, a 6-foot-1 forward/center
from St. Louis, has signed a women's basketball scholarship with Xavier University of Louisiana.
Moore, a May graduate of Lafayette High School in suburan
Wildwood, Mo., is the Gold Nuggets' first signee for 2009-10. She averaged 4.5 points,
three rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 2008-09 for the Lady Lancers, who were 18-8. Moore
was the team's No. 3 rebounder and No. 2 shot-blocker.
"We wanted to sign a big player," Xavier coach Bo Browder
said, "We were blessed to sign Stephanie. She has a tremendous wingspan and a nice
touch around the basket. Johnna Williams, one of our bigs, told us last month she
was quitting basketball, so Stephanie will have an even greater chance to contribute next season."
Moore, who graduated with a 3.8 grade-point average,
previously attended Metro High School in St. Louis. She grew up playing in coach
Gary Glasscock's program at the Mathews-Dickey Boys' and Girls' Club.
Moore will be the Nuggets' first St. Louisan since another 6-1 player, Carol Tillman
(1982-86). She will join a Xavier program whose tradition includes:
• 13 appearances in the NAIA Division I National
Championship the past 15 seasons.
• A 216-15 record at The Barn the past 17 seasons.
• 11 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular-season
championships and 10 GCAC tournament championships.
• 16 20-game winners the past 17 seasons.
Xavier was 23-9 in 2008-09.
Xavier will return 12 letterwinners, including
LaTashia Wise and honorable-mention All-American Brittany Powell, both seniors.
