Cassiere scores 1-2-3 finish in NAIA-SIDA writing contest

NEW ORLEANS — Ed Cassiere, in his third year
as Xavier University of Louisiana's sports information director, scored a sweep
of the top three places in the season preview/review category of the 2008-09
Dr. W. Jack Bell Writing Contest for NAIA SIDs.
Results were announced Saturday during the
NAIA-Sports Information Directors of America Convention in San Antonio.
Cassiere earned first place for his Xavier
men's
basketball preview, second place for his
women's
basketball preview and third place for his men's cross country preview. There were 35
entries and 10 places awarded. SIDs could enter a maximum of three
stories in a category.
Cassiere has won nearly 60 awards in a sportswriting
career which he started as a 10th-grader in 1974.
