ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

April 24, 2009
Results
MOBILE, Ala. — Angelina Callis extended her singles
and doubles winning streaks Friday, leading top-seeded Xavier University of Louisiana to
a 7-0 women's tennis victory against Belhaven in the semifinals of the Gulf
Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
The Gold Nuggets (17-6), No. 15 in the NAIA coaches
poll, will meet defending champion and second-seeded Mobile for the championship at 6 p.m. Friday.
Callis and Anastesia Opata earned their 11th consecutive
doubles victory when then beat Neely Johnson and Mayra Prado 8-1 at No. 1. Callis,
playing No. 2 singles, extended that streak to eight in a row with a 6-0, 6-0 victory
over Johnson.
Jihanna Mughnee clinched the dual when she defeated
Lindsey Berg 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Melissa DeLoach did not drop a game in
winning at No. 6 singles and at No. 3 doubles with Alexandra Broussard.
Fourth-seeded Belhaven finished 7-11.
The Nuggets will appear in their eighth consecutive GCAC final.
The streak excludes 2006, when Xavier did not compete in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Xavier defeated Mobile in the finals in 2004, 2005 and 2007 but lost 5-4 to the
Lady Rams last year.
