Dumas receives All-Louisiana honorable mention

     NEW ORLEANS — Shaun Dumas, a four-year men's basketball standout for Xavier University of Louisiana, earned honorable mention on the All-Louisiana team announced Saturday night.
     Dumas, a 5-foot-11 senior guard from New Orleans and a 2004 graduate of St. Augustine High School, averaged 14.7 points, 4.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game in 2008-09 and was the third Gold Rush player in 27 seasons to lead the team in those categories in the same year. He's a two-time NAIA Division I third-team All-American, a three-time All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference selection and a two-time GCAC Player of the Week. He was GCAC Freshman of the Year in 2004-05.
     His career totals include 1,434 points, 599 assists (third at XU), a school-record 380 steals and a school-record-tying 129 games.
     Xavier was 19-12 this past season and tied for fourth place in the GCAC.
     Dumas is the second player in Dannton Jackson's six seasons as Xavier head coach to make the All-Louisiana team or receive honorable mention. Mark Stewart was on the third team in 2006-07.
     A Louisiana Sports Writers Association panel selected the All-Louisiana team. All players from four-year universities in the state are eligible.
