ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Florida A&M ends Gold Rush winning streak
February 22, 2009
Results
NEW ORLEANS — Florida A&M won all three
doubles matches and five of six singles matches Sunday in an 8-1 men's
tennis victory over Xavier University of Louisiana at UNO Wow Café Tennis Center.
The Rattlers (4-3), an NCAA Division I member, snapped
the six-match winning streak of the Gold Rush (6-2), No. 15 in the NAIA coaches poll.
The dual was played under NAIA scoring rules.
FAMU's Simbarashee Happy and Michael Moore defeated
Mike Green and Steffen Giles-Osborn 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Happy beat
Green 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
Xavier scored its only point when Cameron Knowles
defeated Joshua Cameron 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 6 singles.
"I thought we stacked up better than the result," Xavier
coach Alan Green said. "I was a little disappointed in the result. That's the
type of match that we need to prepare for the best teams in the NAIA.
I've got to do a better job of getting our guys better prepared for those type of matches."
Xavier's men and women will travel to Baker, La. —
a suburb of Baton Rouge — for a 1 p.m. dual against Grambling at Greenwood Park
Tennis Center. Grambling, like FAMU, is an NCAA D-I member and an HBCU.
