ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Dumas is GCAC Player of the Week again
January 19, 2009
NEW ORLEANS — Three weeks ago Shaun Dumas
never had won a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week award. Now he's won it twice.
The Xavier University of Louisiana men's basketball standout averaged 25 points and
shot 59.4 percent from the floor in two games to win the GCAC award for Jan.
12-18. He also earned the honor for Dec. 29-Jan. 4.
Dumas, a 5-foot-11 senior guard from New Orleans and a 2004 graduate of St.
Augustine High School, scored a season-high 28 points — 21 in the second half — in a 71-68
home loss Thursday against Tougaloo, then scored a game-high 22 points Saturday in a 68-57
victory at SUNO. It was the second time as a collegian that Dumas reached 20 points in consecutive games.
Other averages for Dumas included 3.5 rebounds, three
assists and three steals. He made 6-of-9 from 3-point range and all six free throws.
Xavier (10-6 overall, 2-2 GCAC) will begin a four-game home stand at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday against William Carey at The Barn.
NOTES: Xavier and longtime rival Dillard will meet Saturday —
women's game at 5 p.m., men's game at 7 — in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Crosstown Classic at New Orleans Arena.
Tickets are available at both universities and through Ticketmaster (504-522-5555 or
www.Ticketmaster.com)
. . . XU graduate and former player Stephen Stallworth (1999-2001), who died Sept. 3 in a trucking accident, will be honored
in a brief ceremony prior to tip-off of Saturday's Xavier-Dillard men's game . . . Dumas
leads Xavier with averages of 13.5 points, 4.4 assists and 3.4 steals and could become the third
Gold Rush player in 27 seasons to lead the team in those categories in the same season. Chevis
Brimmer (2002-03) accomplished that most recently . . . For the second straight week Xavier
received one point in the NAIA Division I coaches poll.
