Dillard defeats Wiley at XU Classic to avenge earlier loss

NEW ORLEANS — Meaquell Lewis scored 17 points Thursday to lead Dillard
to a 70-47 women's basketball victory over Wiley in the opening game of
the Xavier Classic.
Ariel Mitchell added 10 points and five steals for the Lady Blue Devils (3-4),
who have a two-game winning streak and avenged an 81-76 home loss to
Wiley from Nov. 15.
Katrina Harris, with 14 points, was the lone double-figure
scorer for Wiley (3-5).
Dillard led 37-16 at the break after limiting the
Lady Wildcats to five first-half field goals in 30 attempts. For the game
Dillard outshot Wiley 44 to 23 percent from the floor and had a 50-43 rebound advantage.
Joslyn Greenward grabbed 13 rebounds for the Lady Blue Devils.
