Gold Nuggets rally past Langston in Xavier Classic

NEW ORLEANS — Shayla Boyd's putback with
16 seconds remaining Thursday broke the game's 10th tie and rallied
NAIA No. 19 Xavier University of Louisiana to a 67-63 women's basketball
victory over Langston in the Xavier Classic.
Dillard defeated Wiley 71-47 in the first game.
The victory was the 21st in a row for Xavier (4-1)
at The Barn and the 69th in its past 71 games in its home facility.
Johnna Williams and SiMon Franklin scored 12
points apiece for the Gold Nuggets, who will play Wiley at 4 p.m.
Friday to conclude this four-team event. Dillard will play Langston at 2 p.m.
Sanetra Jackson scored 21 points, Ashlea Gray 13
and Nikia Henry for Langston (6-3), which has dropped two straight
after winning 63 of 68 games.
