In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Okoroha's hot half moves Xavier past Carver Bible
November 1, 2008
Box score
NEW ORLEANS — Kelechi Okoroha scored all 17 of his points
in nine first-half minutes Saturday to lead Xavier University
of Louisiana in an 88-53 men's basketball victory over Carver Bible at The Barn.
The Gold Rush (2-0) won on consecutive days to start a
season for the first time since 2003.
Okoroha, who did not play in the second half,
was 6-of-6 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the line to spark Xavier to a
44-25 halftime lead.
Dannie Woods and Olumide Olafioye scored 12 points
apiece for Xavier, and Landon Bussie — a transfer from NCAA Division II's
Livingstone — had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Devin Andrew and Cordell Hadnot
scored nine points each.
Reggie Anderson scored 24 points for Carver Bible (0-2),
and Delta Leonard and Cameron Blake had 10 apiece.
Xavier outshot the Cougars 58 to 37 percent from the
floor and outrebounded them 44-18. The Rush committed 27 turnovers but gained 32.
It's the first time since the 1956-57 season that
Xavier allowed less than 60 points in each of its first two games. The Rush won
58-55 at home Friday against Southern Polytechnic.
Xavier's next game will start at 6 p.m. Friday against
Huston-Tillotson at The Barn.
